YSSL Inc. Hubs

This is where all the pillars meet if you’ve read through all of them this is the consolidation. If you haven’t read through all of them you can check them out on the other pages. This page is the end result of a fully integrated process from idea to sold product.

What Is A Hub

A location that allows for the development of an individual, business or community. We aim to create hubs that operate on specific criteria. The ultimate goal are places that allow for the development of ideas into internationally market ready product lines, services or experiences. In order to create this a very specific set of conditions need to occur. We have identified these conditions as the following:

  • Land located within 150–200 km of a major urban center with close access to major markets
  • Renewable energy potential whether that be hydroelectric, wind, or geothermal energy
  • A water source that either can be or is dammed (river, stream, or lake with reasonable control potential).
  • Land parcels where both surface and mineral rights can be purchased or negotiated.

They are designed to revitalize the communities they partner with.

Who Will Use These Hubs

The hubs are for anyone who can use them. At the top of the list are SMEs who need access to natural resources to create.

  • Small and medium enterprises who walk in with a need to create and walk out with an internationally viable business
  • Film, productions needing natural landscapes, materials, and fabrication support to build and shoot
  • Food and Fashion, makers turning natural resources into value added products, from prototype to export ready line
  • Wood and Metal based Manufacturing, access to timber, metal, shared tools, and fabrication from raw resource to finished product

Open and accessible by design. Built so anyone with a need to create can move, make, and scale in Canada.

Institution Partners

We needed to find land that actually works. So we partnered with schools who could do the research properly.

  • Capella University did an exhaustive land search, using our criteria to identify multiple possible sites in each province and territory
  • Northeastern University built a human resources framework to support the development of talent in the regions we aim to serve
  • George Brown College looked at supply chain, what it takes to get materials in and products out

We did the homework first. That way when we build, we are building in the right places.

Future Plans

The goal is to turn this into franchises across Canada and eventually in other countries. We want to teach this model to other companies and communities.

  • Each new location will have to go through a full evaluation process to determine its viability before anything gets built
  • That evaluation process uses the criteria we have already listed for land, human resources, and supply chain to make sure the site can actually support long term production
  • Once approved, each location will adopt the models and resources according to what that specific region needs, so the hub fits the local economy instead of forcing a one size fits all build

The system stays the same. The build changes to fit the place.
